02.29.96 Vol. 3 , Issue 9 ============================================ ::PHILIP NUTMAN:: I'm going to have to ask Philip Nutman just why he DID move here to the colonies. I suspect that he discovered his British accent attracted American women. A former national teenage cross-country runner, before discovering that booze, cigarettes, and profligate womanizing was more fulfilling, Philip's odd jobs have included bouncer in a strip club, pornographer (assistant editor of Leg Show, Big Butt, Juggs, & Max 40-D Cup,) TV production assistant at the BBC (everything from Dr. Who to Masterpiece Theater,) and dishwasher. He also writes. First published at age 15, 32-year-old Philip Nutman has, as a journalist, over 350 feature articles to his credit, in magazines ranging from Penthouse, Twilight Zone Magazine, Spin, Comics Scene, Gallery, The Comic Buyer's Guide to Melody Maker, and numerous European publications such as L'Ecran Fantastique, Segno Cinema, and Vendredi 13. As British Correspondent for Fangoria, he was the first reporter to period covered the making of most of the successful horror movies of the last decade. In addition to writing feature articles, he worked periodically as a critic and columnist for Bang, Fear, and Shock X-press. Widely regarded as an expert on fantastic fiction and film, he has lectured at The School of Visual Arts, NYC, Roger Williams College, RI, Dusquesne University, Pittsburgh, and several British high schools. He's written and developed television and movie screenplays for both UK and US production companies. Co-developer, with Clive Barker, Archie Goodwin, and D.G. Chichester, of Epic Comics' Clive Barker's Hellraiser anthology series, he's also written for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (which ranks him above even R.L. Stine in MY household) and other comics. Oh yeah. He also writes horror fiction. Nutman is a two time Bram Stoker Award nominee (Best Novella -- "Full Throttle," Best First Novel -- WET WORK.) You can find his full tilt, highly original, often wry, always entertaining short stories (among other places) in BOOK OF THE DEAD, SPLATTERPUNKS, BORDERLANDS II. FORBIDDEN ACTS, GAHAN WILSON'S HAUNTED HOUSE; WHITE WOLF'S TRUTH UNTIL PARADOX, UNSEEN, THE SPLENDOR FALLS and DARK DESTINIES II. |
